"Jord and Frihet" is Swedish for Tierra y Libertad, the people's battle cry during the Mexican Revolution in the beginning of the 1900s. It means Land and Liberty, and was later used by the Spanish anarchists in the fight against fascism during the Spanish Civil War in 1936-39.
We are a small, non-profit organization. In addition to the members in the organization itself, we have contacts in a number of Swedish local groups who help us with the distribution and marketing of our goods. For the past couple of years our main activity has consisted of importing, distributing, marketing and sale of Palestinian olive oil.
In the Stockholm area – where Jord och Frihet is based – we also assist the Ki'nal organization (formerly Mut- Vitz Sweden) with distribution of fair trade coffee from the Zapatista co-operative in Chiapas, Mexico. In the future, we would like to expand our selection of fair trade products. We believe that a business based on solidarity and mutual respect can contribute to radical change the world, as well as provide direct aid to those people or groups we've chosen to work with. This business model built on solidarity gives people who want to be involved the opportunity to support and do business with partners who work toward building a world without oppression and exploitation.
